[you are a] “a transphobic Nazi who should get raped”
Said to a woman who works for human rights across the globe and defends women-only spaces for survivors of sexual assault and other women who need single-sex space.
Unfortunately, nowadays this level of hateful speech is not that out of the ordinary. Prof Freedman herself describes the hostile atmosphere she experiences while on campus, another philosopher (Kathleen Stock) has been subject to similar, including pictures of women hanging from a noose being stuck on her office door.
This is a gross level of abuse (a case to be made for criminal assault as well as a bias crime) and while the two Universities concerned above seem to be giving some support to their staff – where is the outcry ? Where is the support from colleagues and students to say that this is totally unacceptable ? There should be nationwide outrage at this.
(ETA I think she is a professor of law rather than philosophy)
